The global economic crisis is reshaping the social, cultural, and political landscape of the entire world, including the United States. In this talk, American labour organiser Erik Forman will discuss the theory and practice behind the rise of a new workers’ movement in the US- from the Wisconsin Uprising and Occupy Wall Street, to recent campaigns to build unions in the fast food industry. Forman has spent the last 5 years as a worker in the fight to unionise Starbucks, Jimmy John’s, and other corporate chains with the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW)
